Superheros Production

     

We have been doing a Production in year 5&6. On Tuesday 6th of November 2012 at 1:30 we did our Production for the senior citizens and some parents. On Wednesday 7th of November 2012 at 1:30 we performed for our whole school. Then we performed for all the parents and some kids at Wednesday 7th 2012 at 7:00p.m. Here are some photos

Super Market Trip

Two weeks ago we had a lady called Marawa come in to teach us about heathy eating.
She showed us about the food pyramid and what go's in it. We also went to New World in Kaipoi. At New World we were in groups and we had to find a heathy food and a treat food for each category.

Instructional Writing

Studio13 are working on instruction writing. Today we had to write step by step instructions to get to somewhere else in the school. We then got someone else to test them only by following the directions that their partner  had written for them. The hardest bit was to make sure you used the smallest instructions possible.

e.g 'walk straight until you get to the red chairs then turn to the ramp'. But it was still super fun! Plus we got the chance to practise our writing so it was a win/win for everybody ! :D

Production Practice

In studio 13 we have been working on our term 4 production. We have been split into teams of Props, Programme, Dance and Backdrop. As well as daily production practices, our Studio 13 scene is the ''Super Class''. We are practising very hard and we all can't wait for the show!!! :)

Jump Rope for the Heart Foundation

On the 25th of September Years 3-6 did Jump Rope for the Heart Foundation from 11:00 am until 2:45 p.m. There were 20 different activities but we ran out of time and couldn't do some of them. We had fun at all of the activities but I think the best was just the skipping with the long rope.

Spring flowers

In studio 13 we did some painting of spring flowers. We started off by sketching the flowers using pictures and real flowers to help. We painted the flowers first and after that we painted the background. The background was only one colour and it was a light colour. We only had one brush and 4 colours.We could not wash the brush because if we washed our brush we would not be making very good colours. When we didn't wash them the colours were  better than ever. Disco Term 3

Last week we had a disco. We all had a great time.

About Jamaica

At school we are studying Jamaica for our Olympic day. Here are some facts. Usain Bolt is the fastest person in history. The capital of Jamaica is Kingston. The most popular type of music is reggae.
Jamaica was discovered on May 5th 1494. The colors of the Jamaican flag are green, yellow and
black. On the fifteenth of August we had a parade for the Olympic ceremony. We walked around the hall with our class team flags, then we played syndicate games.

Netball Term 3

The year 5 and 6 classes have been doing netball training, practising passing, attacking, and defending. 

We have been doing this weekly to keep up our fitness and skills.They have been teaching us how

to move into the space to get the ball. For our warm ups we have been playing ball tag and at the 

end of each session we play a game of Netberry.

Fun in the Snow

We had heaps of fun playing in the snow at school.

The School Disco

Last Thursday we had a school disco. Some of the people in our class had a lot of fun dancing!!

Canterbury Cross Country Championship

Samantha put in a fantastic effort at the Canterbury Cross Country Championships at Halswell Quarry on Wednesday June 13th. The competition was tough, but she put in a great effort representing our school. Well done Samantha!!

Tissue Paper Artwork

This term Studio 13 have been using our creative minds to create tissue paper artwork.

Miss Piper gave us a selection of different colours to choose from for our animals. Then we were allowed to either rip or cut the paper. After we had finished that we got to choose our backgrounds and then we stuck it all on. !!!

Cross Country

At Kaiapoi Borough School we have been doing cross country. The cross country is about when you get fit and you race each age group to win. Year 3 to 8 do cross country. When you are a year 5, 6, 7 and 8 you get to go to the Pegusus Cross Country. If you came in the top ten you versus lots of schools like Woodend, Rangiora New Life, Kaiapoi North and St Patricks. The people who went were Lewis, Shawna and Samantha. Samantha came 3rd, Lewis came 17th, and Shawna came 7th. This means on June 13th Samantha will be running in the Canterbury Cross Country Championships. Only 6 KBS children will be competing.

Studio13 Poetry Finalists

                                                 
In year five and six we found some poems and on the computer or in a book. We had to perform in front of the studio and if we were one of the top three we performed it to the syndicate.The top three in our class were Seth, Sydney and Cody. The finalists also went to Anneliese Haven Rest Home to perform there poems.
In year 6 Cody was second. In Year 5 Sydney was first equal.

Science Fun!

In Term 1 during science we had fun. We attached a balloon to a straw with a piece of string through it. We then let go of the balloon. As the air came out it moved along the string. It was a lot of fun seeing how far it would travel. We had to be careful as sometimes the balloon popped when we blew it up again.
